The WhyITNow.org is pleased to announce the Information Technology (IT) and New Media Leadership Awards to honor those who foster excellence in the classroom and IT innovation in California. Stand up and be recognized for the great work that you are doing to promote Information Technology and New Media education and innovation including Web Design and Development, Information Technology, Digital Design and Digital Arts.

President Obama says “business innovation is a building block to more jobs” and the president is calling on us to employ technology and innovation to solve our nation’s most pressing problems. California needs to develop students who have 21st Century skills and who are technologically savvy. Bill Cullifer, Executive Director for WebProfessionals.org and the Chair of the WhyITNow.org initiative said “the IT and New Media Leadership Awards are established to focus on jobs, innovation, productivity and excellence in the classroom. The process of that focus starts by recognizing outstanding teachers and students in the classroom and those innovative private and public partnerships that support them.”

To make a nomination, follow the simple three steps listed below:

Step one: Tell us about yourself, your program and or your school. Share your success stories.
It doesn’t have to be long. Bullet points are OK.

Step two: Please let us know who you would like to nominate. You can name yourself, a colleague, a student, a program manager or administrator or all of the above. Please be specific with full names, school affiliation or program and the topics covered.

Step three: Send us the information in the form provided here or by e-mail at info@whyitnow.org

The Nomination Committee will review your submission and will announce the winners at the upcoming IT Innovation Summit Sacramento March 3, 2011 in Sacramento. Category of winners will include outstanding:

* teacher
* student
* administrator
* program
* government or industry

Winners will receive a special plague, honorable mention at the IT Innovation Summit, a press release with photo displayed on the WhyITNow.org website.
